Thanks so much to the Fredericks for making this great event possible! The airport is wonderful thanks to Brad, and Diz has done an awesome job with with the school! It was great meeting April and Ericka!
 
Back home safe, after a quick stop to check the beach at Washington Island (turns out that stop came with a busted nosewheel pant, no charge).
We had an awesome time, and glad to meet so many wonderful folks! Shoutouts to Diz & Brad for hosting, Leslie & Grant for breakfast, Rich for the internet, and the rest of the gang for making this lowly POA lurker with a DIY airplane immediately welcome & part of the club. We'll be back, and hopefully able to join in more gatherings!

I am so sorry I couldn't be there, but don't regret my decision even a little. It has done nothing but rain here since yesterday and is supposed to keep raining a couple days more. I'd not have been able to make it back VFR. I am so glad everyone had fun. 6Y9 is still one of my most favorite of places.
 
New NOTAM for 6Y9:
MULTIPLE UNLIT SNDHL CRANES INVOF AIRFIELD

It was wise to do periodic runway-clearing passes to ensure safe operations. ;)

If I knew how to upload video, I could post examples of both birds and aircraft doing clearing passes.

I'm not sure which was louder, the plane or the cranes!

We made it back to Kansas a couple hours ago in the RV40, got everything unpacked and put away. A huge thanks to the Fredericks for putting on a fantastic event, Grant and Leslie for a delicious Sunday breakfast, Ed for taking our kids for a ride in his Comanche, and to everyone who made the trip for coming. We had a great time one again and really enjoyed seeing everyone. Getting to see the Northern Lights was another added treat.

It was a great time and a great group. We hope to make it again next year!

Agreed. POA fly-ins tend to have good participants (even when I show up), but I've always found 6Y9 to take the cake with consistently a wonderfully nice group, even though that group naturally shifts from year to year.

Yes. If @SixPapaCharlie is wondering about specs of the RV40 when he documents aircraft at the flyin, it’s an experimental and has a rotation speed of 738 knots.
