I just did a consult with an ame. I have had a dui, taken adhd medicine when I was younger, and I have had some anxiety issues due to some stressful life and relationship events. Based on my testimony he says I have a good chance at special issuance. I plan on getting a neuropsychologist evaluation and taking the cogscreen tests. I see these questions a lot on this forum board and my case is a lot of questions wrapped up in one. I will keep track of the costs and I hope I can get my medical. This has been a life long dream for me. Wish me luck!!! I’m ready to solo and I have put this process off for a very long time (lack of funds).

I wish you good luck for your journey and say Thank You for willing to share the details.

Good luck. Are you looking to fly professionally? If not have you considered LSA, gliders, or ultralights? All get you in the air without worrying about getting a medical.

I have looked at lsa. I plan on getting my glider pilot add on as well. I absolutely love flying and regardless of the outcome I will always fly something even if it’s with an instructor. My ame said I have a really good chance at getting special issuance as long as i do everything he asks. I finished my college education and worked my way up in a company so now I have the money to pay for flight school out of pocket and do whatever medical testing is required. I’ve had some bumps in the road, and I am hoping with the assistance of my doctor I can go on to getting my unrestricted first class medical. I either want to be a cfii or go onto land survey. Mabye cargo or charter if I get lucky.
