Airspeed indicator jumps to life

Flyers and the mechanically savvy,

I have noticed in the last year that my airspeed indicator registers no airspeed until about 40 knots or so and when it does it jumps aggressively to life.

What could cause this and what is the fix? I was thinking a blockage, a collapsed pitot line, a bad airspeed indicator diaphram...

Internal mechanism needs fresh lubrication. Friction is holding it until the diaphragm overcome it.
