Hey everyone!

I'm quite sure nobody noticed, but I've been on hiatus. Just posted this list in another thread, but...

-Birth of a child
-Job change
-House purchase
-Family issues
-Work travel (extensive, for those of you who I'm friends with on Facebook can see...)
-Home improvements

...have all kept me away for quite a while. Glad to say I'm back. I've been lurking POA for the past few days, stopping by flight school this morning to get my docs turned in and signed back up, and I'm finally, finally going to wrap up and finish this time.

Adding to this, we recently went through some changes at work (good changes), and afterwards acquired a very nice Cessna 206 to share with those who are interested in flying. Score! My plan is to get 20 hours with the school in a 172, then switch over and finish up in the 206. Went up yesterday with a few guys and what a nice plane! I am very excited to finally get this done and get flying. Also happy to read through and see so many of you still around and posting.

Great to be back, guys! Hope everyone is well!

Sheesh. It's not like you've been busy or anything. :)

Ha!

Actually, funny thing about the med. I had my med I think in January 2011. Didn't get to take a lesson for a while, so thinking I had to renew it, I renewed it in February of 2014. So I'm still good with my Class III/Student Cert.

Probably could have done things differently I guess, but oh well. I'll have my ticket well before this one expires.

AoA you say? I made the comment from the back seat the other day "It feels like this thing is 3X faster than a 150!"

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's not a joke. I take it very seriously. It could save lives. One might say even more than chutes
In my years of flying I've never wished I had one. With that said, I've never done serious back country flying where I could see the advantages of having one. In normal (non-back country/non-carrier landing) flying how would it be used in a regular serious application?

I'm honestly just trying to learn more on this.

While flying a Cirrus, it is critical that the wine cellar be at the proper angle of attack so the cork does not dry out and spill wine on the Corinthian leather. While they have pressurized the wine cellar, in an attempt to save useful load, they opted out on the gyroscope leveling device hence relying in the AOA indicator to keep the bottles oriented appropriately

Okay, so you, like me, don't see the value in one. Other than keeping the wine in your new plane at the proper angle. ;)

All the magazines have articles about their awesomeness and the avionic companies are all adding them like it's a big selling point. I like innovation and advancements in safety but this one seems useless to me.

Glad to see the all too familiar "hot topics" haven't died down. Feels like home 'round here!
