Looks like Google is at it again.. They've removed the ability to use the backspace key to go back in chrome. Now it's alt and <-. WTF is wrong with them.

It has been Alt+Left since the dawn of them Ynterwebs. Some browsers used non-standard Backspace on and off but it is not exactly a standard.
Remember Macs? The forgotten joke? They don't have a Backspace key. The horror!! :D

And as for Google Chrome itself, I feel like monkeys are working on it. Kinda like crApple. They add a useless "feature" which breaks something useful. Then it takes a year or two to fix it. Chrome used to be cool.

Yea, I didn't know you could backspace to go back, but, now that you mention it, my chrome still does that.

i've only used alt+left

Much better this way. I'd accidentally click out of a textbox and hit backspace and it would change pages on me.

How to you get this upgrade, mine is still doing the offensive back page with backspace behavior.

It's actually a decision based on user behavior. Enough users are losing form fill data by accidentally pressing backspace at the wrong time that Google is thinking it's better to protect users from that pain. The argument is, there are other keyboard shortcuts to go back a page, but no other good solution to keep people from accidentally losing data.

Gee, that's really weird. I was just coming here to compliment Google for changing the "go back" button from Bksp to alt+left arrow. The number of times I've been typing and hit the backspace key was getting frustrating.

Learned something new, Firefox goes back a page when you hit Backspace. Pretty useless fact as it's easier to just use the mouse.

To answer my own question: You can get this upgrade by going in Chrome to Help, About, Check for updates

It works! Thats funny it actually pops up and gives you the alt-left alternative as a popup if you hit backspace.
