Are you or are you not crazy for the new Star Wars? Not real interested myself. Ya'll nuts!

J.J. Abrams ruined Star Trek with his ridiculous "alternate Universe" story line and idiotic, self-indulgent CGI lens flare every two seconds; can't wait to see what a disaster he made of another sci-fi icon.

I'm going to watch it and until then I won't be able to judge...

I didn't think the new Star Treks were that bad other than suffering from a general problem I've had with most newer movies. Lots of fast paced action and jumping around without enough depth in the storyline.

Seriously, go back and watch Star Trek 2 again... I first saw it as a kid. It's chock full of subplots, subtle little lines, etc. Compare that to movies made in the past decade or so.... that stuff ain't there anymore.

The trailer is always better than the movie.

Notice how lately every expensive FX is in the trailer?

When you go to watch the movie, there's nothing new. You've seen every mega-special effect they had already.

The ADHD editing used today gives me a headache.

If you want to compare old-time movie greatness and modern blech, watch the 1947 version of "Miracle on 34th Street" then the flat, lifeless 1994 "remake."

"Have you ever read Milton, Captain?"

"Khan!!!!!!!!!!!!"

We'll see Star Wars for our Christmas Eve movie. I hope its good, but I have doubts.

It'll probably be barely worth seeing on the big screen.

Maybe they'll introduce us to another great character worthy of accolades like JarJar.

I do hope there's a deeper level of hell for George Lucas.

When you say "no" to $4 Billion dollars come back and say that...

I'd happily say yes to $2B and let them pay someone else to screw up the movies with Disney characters and keep my name far far away from it.

There isn't a member of this forum that wouldn't put their name on "Jar Jar & Mickey Adventures" for $4 Billion.

If they offered me just $1B you'd all be seeing pics of my new TBM 900 pretty quick...

Sorry but yes, there's at least one. Probably more.

But that aside, it's not about the money, it's about his ego. He never was a good director.

He stumbled into a top notch special effects team and a storyline and managed to start well, but then lost the team and surrounded himself with yes-men who'd nod and smile and ooh and ahh for him.

Which left him no one who'd tell him how bad what he was doing, sucked.

Nobody left who'd tell him to find a writer with a clue about stories and plot lines and that he was going to embarrass himself.

But then again, he isn't bright enough to be embarrassed. "Hey lets take an undersea passage and get sidetracked at the Jamaican kingdom underwater, and pick up Jar Jar, when it only takes ten minutes to fly around the thing! And we already did that undetected once before just a couple of days ago!"

LOL. Like I said, an extra level of hell.

The hour long multi-part critical assessment of that movie by a film student on YT is one of the funniest things I've ever watched.

New Star Wars? Never heard of it.

(does that answer the question? - and 2 points for recognizing the obscure movie reference)

I was referring to the war between hollywood movie stars when I started the thread. LOL But since everyone started talking about the new Star Wars movie, we will keep that conversation going. :)

ok, but my post still applies. Never heard about it.

+ 100000000!

Many of us renamed the new SW, Star Wars: The Lens Flare Returns!

George took the money and ran. Not sure he has anything to do with the new ones. Not sure the new ones even follow his original plan for the series.

Not that crazy about it. I'll watch it when it gets played on DVD and I happen to be vegetating in the living room.

DVD? 2005 called and wants its physical media back!

Ill wait for it to come out on Bluray and then borrow it from someone.

Agreed. To an original series fan he effectively spit in my face. He can go to hell. No clue what those characters and that ship were supposed to be about.

Won't be looking at JJ Wars thank you.
I don't care to see a Geezer Solo either. Ford is pathetic these days, Crystal Skull was beyond an embarrassment so I learned my lesson I want nothing to do with Han Solo aged. Forever young in my mind. And the Empire was defeated those characters had been through enough and got the super happy ending. Lucas had the sense to leave them be at least.
Star Wars was truly 2.5 films from 77-83.
Lucas dumped Kurtz and Jedi became a muppet show to support toy sales, that's when Lucas really started to sell out and surround himself with Yes men. Hence those horrible prequels.

I'll hold out some hope for the stand alone Rouge One since it's a director I like and story based on the opening crawl of Star Wars 77.

Thank you. I will be there at midnight. In my Jedi robes.

No Jedi robes for me, but I'm excited. It's going to be good and I'm there opening night. These guys here that say J.J. Abrams screwed up the Star Trek franchise seriously have no clue. He gave that wilting story the shot in the arm it needed for sure! I predict this one will be the best one since the Empire Strikes Back and possibly of all time.

We shall see.

Why JJ Trek unquestionably sucked as a Star Trek story...

Jar Jar Abrams is a self-indulgent hack.

Do the Tribbles come back? Evil Spock?

There's a lot of talk about Luke's role in the new movie.

Some people saying he's Kylo Ren, or Kylo Ren's master, etc..will be an interesting movie to watch. How can you go wrong with most of the original cast?

I won tickets to the champagne grand opening midnight showing of the original Star Wars. It was a terrific party, great movie, especially with several glasses onboard. I think that was the best but I include the whole event.
I am looking forward to the new show but fear I've seen it all in the trailers. Being a Disney movie, there's a lot on ABC too.
Overall, I still don't like the numbering. The original is now IV. I don't think any but the original can stand alone. And the latter ones relied too much on CGI and less on story and characters. Jar Jar was a distraction but we see this in a lot of stories.

Oh man, you are lucky you didn't post this in the SZ where it belongs! :D

Now say that Kirk would kick Obi-Wan's butt and let the holy war begin!
