USA, USA, USA...Hockey

If Quick is on his game (which it looks like right now), he can be unstoppable---if Canada doesn't get first goal, could be BIG trouble.

Who scored?

Backatcha...

No goals scored... the starting score is 0 to 0. Btw - what was the final score of the 11 March 1969 game between the Bruins and Blackhawks?

ditto.

Score can be both a noun and a verb.

There is no score. (n)
No team scored. (v)

However a team did score, and it wasn't ours.

I think all of Canada is watching...the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company) webcast is crashing.:yikes:

The Canadian Headquarters for a BIG Box Store and a Fast Food chain are shut down (employees are there, just not working), as are other businesses.

Yesterday, my daughter's school had a shut down, as the last period was happening..My wife was volunteering in the library, students kept drifting into watch the game, ended up being packed! In one of my daughter's classes, the teacher couldn't get her system to work, so one of the kids volunteered his iPad mini to watch with. Kind of a comical thought, 30 kids sitting at their desks (gr 8) all watching a iPad mini resting in the chalk tray at the front of the room. ;)

I have to hit the refresh button on ESPN website every now and then to see what the score and time is. Pretty much business as usual for me.

Do you think this game will be a bigger deal than a gold-medal game against Sweden?

Gotta say, USA played a lot more inspired hockey against RUS.
Offense is flat, shooting from mile away, not setting up plays to the point well at all.

Quite possibly.

If you watched the gold medal game from Vancouver, well, it was one helluva game...OT goal by Sid Crosby that I think everyone on my block heard us yell when it went in!

Looks like we're stuck with him.

USA played on its heels, Canada was a better team today.

Good luck in the next game!

With three Blackhawks on the Canadian team, I'll be saying Go Canada on Sunday.

At least Patrick Kane will be well rested after the Olympics since he didn't do **** during the games. He'll be lucky to get a bronze.

Dang I had a customer come in and I wasn't able to watch.

I hope the score 1-0 means it wasn't a one sided game.

Dear Team Canada,

You're welcome to the loan of three of our all stars. Please make sure Mr. Toews isn't so smug when he comes back.

Sincerely,

The Chicago Blsckhawks

Captain Serious isn't the smug one. Kane would be smug, except now he's fighting for a bronze.

I was dreading going to the rink today knowing the Canadians were going to mess with us. But after the Finland game, I'll bet they have pity on us....

Oh well, there's always 2018.....

Looks like Canada brought its "EH game" against the USA.

Dear Jeff,

While Canada might have had the better team, we (USA) clearly won the smack talk before and after the game. Something Canada should strive for. Clearly, its not all about the final score, but a combination of smack talking, actual playing style, and who has the better beer. Clearly, the USA won. :D

Do they have beer in Canada?

Dear Geico,

Being born a Canadian, we used to have a joke we told in Winnipeg:

Question: Do you know what American beer and fishermen have in common?

Answer: They are both pretty damn close to water.

BTW, unfortunately we have to keep Bieber cause we lost.

I didn't watch the game, but seeing the score, I feel for the US Hockey team. They have too much talent and grit for that result.

I hope that they still ice their "best of the best" in 2018.

There's something to be said about having a team full of all-stars having a difficult time trying to play together as a team. An assembly of top talent does not make a team, and from what I saw, it seems the Americans didn't seem to gel like the Canadians, or the Fins, for example.

I think the Olympics and hockey in particular have suffered by having the pros take part, but that ship has sailed long ago.

Don't feel sorry. If the rest of the team played as well as the goalie, there would be much joy and the Biebs would be packing his stuff.

To bad it was the goalie from the Boston bruins that cost team USA a bronze.

Hopefully they don't trash their rooms like in '98.

Doubtful. I read that the winner of the bronze medal game had to stick around for Sunday's medal ceremony, while the losers had to immediately leave to return to their NHL team.

The Americans played like they had a plane to catch.

Canadian commercial beer far exceeds the swill produced in the US. Microbrews are good on both sides of the border.
