Good Evening,
Without getting into a whole spiel, essentially I’m at a halt in obtaining a medical for at least 10 years due to suicidal ideation and a misdiagnosis of BP which was confirmed by a doctor. Essentially at this point I’ve just been doing my thing, currently working as an A&P and son obtaining my engineering degree with reputable track history, including a letter from my psychiatrist. However I am on kind of a hiccup. The hospital with the psychiatrist that was seeing me decided to discharge me because the hospital felt I no longer needed to be seen by the psychiatry department given the reversal and full cessation of meds for a while. However I did want to continue seeking some medical treatment given that I want to build a good track record and jot “disappear” for 10 years. What exactly can I do to be seen by some specialist for this specific scenario. The thing is that to be seen by psychiatry you need referral by the PCP and I have no reason to be referred to them.

The successful life test is documented by cards and letters from those in a position to know, on letterhead, and primary care notes; annual psychologist visits, etc.

OP might benefit from a list of who might be considered "in a position to know." Can it be family, friends, etc. or does it have to be docs/therapists/etc.?

“Nobody with a familial interest.."

In terms of medical follow up, since I no longer need follow-ups by the doctor, who do you recommend I go to for these follow-ups. Just continue my traditional primary care visits or outsource a mental health professional? Or maybe doing a few HIMS evaluations over the span of 10 years to keep good track?

An employer/immediate supervisor can testify as to your reliability and stability. A good credit report shows responsibility, as does a clean driving record. An upward career progression shows life success. Handling setbacks productively is a positive.
