Has anyone used Starbrite or Alumabrite or is it best to use Alumiprep 33 and Alodine 1201 to clean inside the engine compartment to remove years of oxidation? I don't want to damage my Aluminum or anything else in the engine area.

Alumiprep 33 and Alodine 1201 (or Bonderite 33 & 1201) are formulated to prep your aircraft aluminum, ie. 2024-T3, parts for paint. StarBrite/Alumabrite are formulated for non-aviation purposes which are mainly to clean aluminum, ie, 5000/6000 series metal.

Without knowing more details on what specific “oxidation” you want to clean up, can’t offer more. However, there are other “aviation” products out there that may be able to give you the results you are looking for?
