The spoilers deploy automatically if the system was armed. They might have missed a step in the checklist. But I doubt that it would have had any affect on the PIO.

I have a friend who has to do the same thing. He needs to get a FR in SEL before he can do the glider thing. Makes absolutely no sense.

Does AVIATE do that? Who ultimately is paying the bills?
