I so want to make an east coast trip in the 182, but 10.5 hours direct, no wind... ugggghh. I could cut that considerably eastbound by climbing up and sucking O2 all day... depending on luck, shave a couple of hours off.

Doesn't get more "just fly east" than this.. LOL.

And I'm stupid enough to still be thinking about it...

It's "only" 138 gallons of fuel... one way...

God made Mooneys for this. A 182 isn't a Mooney. Haha.

Haha. It's a trick to get ForeFlight to ignore current winds aloft. Give it an altitude out of range and it'll give you the flight plan without winds. :p

There are times I don't like you and your fancy turbo. LOL. Or maybe it's just the turbo. :)

LOL. I wouldn't if I were you. Unless you mean that one out at the end of the field near the railroad tracks that's about mile hike to the building, and I could see why you'd want me there. Haha.

Ok for those that are staying over night or for the weekend. The hotel reservation link is here. Angel Flight East Just click on Angel Flight East and it should get you the rate of $119 per night. If you call directly then just ask for the Angel Flight East rate. I'll put this in the original post as well. If anyone wants to rent a car Enterprise has cars right on the field but you may want to call the Enterprise office just 1.5 miles away as I'm not sure if they upcharge for the airport. Here is the link for the Enterprise office in Blue Bell PA

Sigh... I'd sure love to, but it's not really family-friendly. Not in terms of people acting crazy or anything, but there's not a lot for the wife and kiddos to do. I already drag them to too many events where they watch me talk about airplanes. And they let me - But I've gotta be careful how often I do that, lest they get fed up with it! ;)

Come on Kent. Sure it is. Friday night Cheese steaks is really just pure social hanging out, Saturday is at the airport but its really a BBQ and Friday night is just dinner and need I remind you it was not some one else who came up with the concept of eh hem %$&#@ inertia! I'll bring my wife who hate talking flying and she will likely be happy to play with your kid giving your wife a break. Besides you can stop and visit family in State College for a while.

A lot will have to come together for me to be able to do this:

    Plane makes it through annual
    Plane gets pitot-static check
OMB gets their a$$ in gear and releases the BasicMed checklist
AOPA makes their BasicMed online course available
Plane survives post-annual test flight and doesn't develop any major mx issue after being mothballed for 1.5 years, plus...
I get a BFR (and optionally, but hopefully, an IPC)

    but, tentatively...

Actually, it's not the East leg that'll get you. It'll be the West leg into the headwind that'll make it a 15 hour return trip. Or you could just keep going and you'll approach Denver from the west!

Well, I did it in the Tiger, East to West in 12 hours flight time at a pretty leisurely pace to save fuel, the first time (N47 - KFTG). I have to look at my logbook coming back, but I think I went direct to KLEX when I moved. You can do it Nate!

What in the actual f? Kent complaining about a lack of family-friendly activities? Now I know I am too old and need to remove myself from the planet!

That being said, I need to downgrade to Fri only as I have a USA Hockey clinic all day Sat, followed by a Bat Mitzvah celebration.

I promise to bring the full B-2 attitude on Friday night....

Right? And Kent is the guy who coined the term " T%$$^y Inertia"! And here is the crazy part Andrew, Jess for some reason decided that she was going to add a "kiddie corner" and adult yard games to the FlyBQ! I was like WTF? Kiddie corner? What the heck happened to just watching airplanes?

So, the best way to make it family-friendly is to make sure I'm not there. ;)

And I'll watch airplanes all day long, but my wife and son do tire of it after a while if there's not enough other things they like to do. :(

There's a small chance I'll make it, but alone. Nate, maybe we should meet up near Chicago and travel the rest of the way together?

The difference is that, 9 years later, I have small children who draw on me with Sharpies instead of adult friends who behave like small children. ;)

I don't see us getting there as the 414 is still going to be down for its engine beam repair anyway. It is really an adult fly-in in my opinion. Will be sorry to miss you all.
