I was at Wings last night and saw this 172 and thought mmmm thats strange where the hell is the vertical stab? I was wondering what chewed it up. This happened on Monday night. We had some serious TS blow through with torrential rains. Apparently TS came through and flipped this vintage 172 right over. Planes on either side were untouched. Actually I don't know how the plane was tied down but regardless. OUCH.

That's why we always tied down away from other planes and brought our own ropes.

The guy probably heard the TS forecast and flew it there just hoping.

Ouch.

It's sad to see any old bird meet a fate such as this.
