See sat images.
Both taken a few moments ago from the adds site.
One is the single image, B&W, IR option
The other is the 'Western USA' with reporting station overlays.

The second is getting a return in the area of interest (circled), the first shows mostly clear.
Why the difference? Both have time stamps exactly as shown, 7:00am CDT.

Use radar data. A visible view gives you a ballpark rough picture of what's there; radar tells you much more.
 
there was nothing on radar in that area, that time+day (despite the sigmet) however I agree with the concept of using several data inputs to form a conclusion.
