Viagra vs Cialis

Yeah, we'd better make damn good and certain we censor our writings so as not to pi$$ anybody off. I guess being PC must be really important.
Correct. Take it to the spin zone. You are being very insensitive. People post here to get information, not to be ridiculed.

If you think it's OK to take pills to do what ought to come naturally, that's your opinion and you are more than welcome to it. You can be comforted by your good standing in the majority. I don't ever want to be in such decrepit condition that I require such medical intervention. I despise MDs, hospitals, needles, pills, ointments, and just about anything else related to medical treatment.

Let me guess, Jehova's Witness? or Christian Science?

I'd still like to see where I belittled anyone. I said I didn't want to take the damn pills, and I bloody well mean it. What, my little banter session with Henning? I honestly don't know what the "competitive level" is, but that's par for the course with Henning. Or was it where I said that if someone else was taking the things that was fine and dandy, I just didn't want to do so, i.e. I don't think less of anyone if they do so, don't think anyone else should either, but it just isn't for me.

And honestly, I'd like to see anything on POA posted by me that even holds a patch on my sig line.

Oh really? What do these statements imply about persons who need medical treatment?
Still don't need pills. Sucks for you if you do
The day I need a pill to do that I'm going to have a friend shoot me.

We will see what happens if you get really sick or injured. Good luck dealing with it on your own.

If you look at all of them (my posts, that is), I espouse my own revulsion at it. In the last I pretty blatantly say that those who take them are solidly in the majority, i.e. mine is a minority view. You might take that as an implication that I am belittling someone with ED, but I never wrote or meant anything of the sort. And I saw no outrage from you when anther poster called me "a pice of garbage", meaning you don't like what you don't like, but don't really care if someone is demeaned.

I know exactly what will happen. I've made no bones about being the world's worst patient. And I know all the little dirty secrets about the medical establishment, and am likely to be a huge pain in the six because of it. I've had exactly one visit to the ER in my life, and I shouldn't have gone and am still very, very upset at myself for not self diagnosing an easily discovered condition for which I could have used over-the-counter medication.

Stop digging.

You need somebody to defend you after you picked a fight? Not me.

In my opinion a dangerous strategy. I suspect that you are not as familiar with the advantages and limitations of modern medicine as you believe. I would not be here today if a surgeon had not taken me to the OR at 0200 one night in August 2006. I am doing great now so for me it was worth it. I know of many people living good lives who would most likely not have survived without the benefit of medical treatment. Others are living with a much higher quality of life than otherwise. I also know of people who died sitting at home waiting for something to get better.

The thing is, I don't believe I ever picked a fight. Oh, I have in these pages to be certain, mostly politics in the Spin Zone. But not in this particular instance.

I do think it ironic that you get far more honked off about someone possibly implying something about ED patients that someone blatantly insulting another. You are of course entitled, just as I am entitled to consider it ironic.

I have never espoused my particular attitude toward the medical profession for anyone else but my own prickly self. Yeah, I could die young. I could die in the airplane or on the bike too. I intend to spend my first night in a hospital on my last.

Dunno, you have just been rather rude and condescending towards another member of the board who asked a serious question on the 'medical topics' forum:

I am getting close to my 70s and I think I may need some help on choosing one of these new ED medications. What has been your experience with either one and what possible effects on flying. Thanks

If you had nothing to contribute beyond tales of your own virility, why didn't you just stay in the spin-zone.

Hmm, in that context you raise a reasonable point, though I never meant it so. I had thought the conversation drifted from this one particular poster (against whom I never meant any insult and apologize profusely if such was felt) to the drugs in general.

Nice ot see you all jumping to the defense of a fellow board member.

Now that we are back to the drugs in general a couple of general points:

- Dont buy it off the interwebs or under the table from a buddy. ED may be the result of something more serious like peripheral vascular disease, undiscovered diabetes, prostate problems etc. See a professional to check on those items and get a regular script. If you dont want your pharmacy benefits manager to have your ED scripts in their system, consider paying cash and dont have the pharmacy run your insurance card.

- If you are not comfortable talking to your regular doc about it, see a urologist or internist who specializes on this, every town has one. Again, if you dont want to run this visit through your health insurance, you can allways pay cash.

- As pointed out by the only poster with first hand experience, often lower doses will work as well or better than the higher doses. While the manufacturer tells you not to, it is entirely possible to chop the larger 100mg pills into smaller pieces, there are even pill-cutters available for that purpose (note: this is an off-label use, not endorsed by anyone, not recommended by myself, your mileage may vary, objects in mirror are closer than they appear this is not medical advice, I dont even know you)

- Involve your SO in the process. She already knows you have an issue, dont try to be mr studman without telling her, the results may not be what you expected.

- If you EVER end up in the hospital within a couple of days after taking one of the chemical helpers, make sure to let the first person in triage know that you have been taking the stuff. No time to be modest, it may mean the difference between life and death.

Enjoy !

I would come to your defense under appropriate circumstances. I still think you are a good guy and hope we can sit down together again this year at the POA cookout at Oshkosh and have a few beers.

Sorry, I can't go to Oshkosh (I have a lab class to teach this summer). I do hope to make it up to 6Y9 though, and if I do at least one round on me. This does look like my fault, though I swear unwittingly so. A number of people misinterpreted my aversion to all things medical (I swear in all honestly the thought of taking such a pill makes me ill to my stomach) to be some sort of virile boast. Since multiple people did so I assume the correlation reasonable, and the fault mine.

You're a good man, Michael.

You know, before this thread went off in a rant against the medical profession, it was starting to resemble the "paved/unpaved runway" thread.
