UPS 747-8 engine fire on departure from HKG/VHHH. Apparently blew both bottles into the engine and fire persisted. Return for overweight landing (~150,000 lbs over MLW).

Does the plane need all kinds of special inspections and sign offs related to the overweight landing?

Yep. It will be there for a while.

An engine change as well as two new seat cushions.

That thing was probably going to SDF, so you might want to add two more seat cushions to the order.

As far as inspections, I bet they’ll pull the FDR and see what the VV and G loading was at touchdown and if it was within limits for that weight, the other inspections won’t take that long.

Long shot, but was Kelly L. the Captain? We were co-workers at a previous airline.

I don't know. I don't work for Big Brown, but their Purple cousins.
