It was our first visit to the NEW old stomping grounds since the $50,000,000 renovation to the hotel and its reopening. It got interesting. My companion was amazed that there were no Port wines on the menu, no Cordials, or after-dinner wines. ???? So she mentioned it to the (very attentive) waiter. Shortly, the Gen Mgr. came over to our table and s.o. defined her concerns. I commented that, "Her company ships all the liquors/spirits, most wines into State of Maine." The lady G.M. looked quizzical, and my guest continued, "Maine Beverage Company/Martignetti Liquors; I'll have to speak with our wine chief; we supply most but not all of the national chains, but you are missing some key items." It was nice; after that, the bartender came over to converse.
When we were ready to check out of the Lounge, total surprise: All was "on the house," which was NOT a direction we were seeking. The place IS terrific; so glad WESTIN retained the name of the lounge.
