Grrrrrrrr
. . . enjoying a smooth-as-silk noon time flight in the rental C150. I went up to test out my new Fuji Finepix S9100 digital camera over Jacksonville Beach. My elbow was hanging out the window and it was a gorgeous day.

I got a pile of great photos, then I happened to notice some traffic. I was at about 1200' cruising south to north, and this Navy Seahawk was passing below at probably 500' north to south. I whipped my camera out the window as fast as I could and snapped. If I'd had an extra second it would have turned out sharper and I could have zoomed in enough to fill the screen.

This shot was cropped and reduced in size for easier web sharing.

Good shot, John!

They prolly had you on the fish finder....and the weapons display. :D

No doubt. Looks like an aerial tanker, too, from the drogue on the starboard side.

I meant to add that there was only one other aircraft in the immediate area, a banner tow plane that left when I got there, but a lot of traffic around the airport 6 miles west. For the first time in my 18 years of flying, I wished I lived somewhere with as little GA activity as possible, so I could enjoy being up there without the pressure of constantly looking for traffic. (Not that you can ever "not" look for traffic, but you know what I mean.)

Great photo John! I was in the practice area a few miles south of Deep Forest once doing some slow flight and stalls, and upon finishing and turning back towards Craig, a flight of 4 S-3 Vikings passed about 500 feet directly below me! It was pretty neat. I was a bit startled though, because I saw them just as I rolled out of my turn towards north. They quickly passed out of sight below me and I looked for them as they got west of me. They were inbound from the coast.
