That's an awesome aircraft. British designed, I think by English Electric.

They built the Lightning, too...built in the 50's, faster than either the F-18 or F-22, and I think the only plane we have that can out climb it is the F-15. Those crazy Brits designed some nice aircraft.

Taxes done. Uncle Sam owes me some serious dinero. I prefer to get that as close to zero as possible but life sometimes overwhelms the desire to submit withholding adjustments.

We adjust withholding annually. This year we expect to get a significant check back; seems our payroll processor (a big one) was withholding too much for 2022.

I never file before around the Super Bowl/my bday because legally I think companies have until the end of January to send you your forms so I’ve just gotten in the habit of waiting til then. Just my thing.

yeah, I made a mistake and didn't withdraw enough extra to properly handle the rather large medical bills I had in 2022. I usually have it dialed in better.

Twice in the past few years I've had to do an amended return because someone was late in sending me forms. So I wait longer these days. Because doing an amended return blows.

The good folks at Ernst & Young have my numbers. They'll get it done when they get it done. My quick calc says I will get some sort of refund.

With my stint overseas, the company pays for them to do them until I've been home a few years. I think this is my last year.

    Nice.

I haven't even started mine. I think 15 Feb the last of my forms get mailed to me, so I can't even start for another week or two.

As a "qualified farmer" I don't have to pay estimates, so long as I file by March 1. My taxable investing account has until Feb 15 to send their 1099-DIV. So you can probably guess what I'm doing at my computer, right now. Well, what I SHOULD be doing right now.

Couldn't take it anymore with the plane in annual and perfect weather outside -- all while listening to everyone buzzing around above my house.
So now I'm doing a Cessna 172 checkout at a local shop in a couple hours and 3 hour block tomorrow... Honestly, I think being hopelessly hooked on crack might be cheaper than an aviation addiction.

Yup, the 1099 DIV and B and whatever the hell else that series is. That's what I have to wait on.

If you need to fly, I can acquire us an airplane to fly. No PIC though... but I get to fly and with entertainment...

Alas, I'm monitoring email and playing with my new Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.

Good to know @kaiser ! I'm doing the checkout with IAA at KDPA so I have the optionality to rent there but I'm certainly open to other flying opportunities!
And PIC time isn't that important to me, I get enough of that with the Arrow. It's just about not sitting on the ground during good wx

Re: VR... My quest headset has been in its box since I bought it a year ago... 2 of my friends and I bought the headset and it turns out I was the only one who didn't need to barf from motion sickness after playing it for an hour

I like IAA. Good operation. I got all my certs there said my multi-addon.

Re: VR... you're supposed to ease into it! 10-15 minutes at a time! not an hour!!!! But I've killed so many space pirates already.

I just came back from running errands. As I am driving up the road, I noticed my trash can is not next to my driveway. As I get closer I notice it is about 70 to 80 feet further north from where I left it. That is downhill so it could have rolled that far, except I have a rock chock to hold it in place and the hill is not that steep.

Then I notice a lot of plastic car parts in the ditch next to where I put the trash can. Like part of the plastic bumper, the entire wheel well and most of the grill, parts of the headlight and turn signal lenses and a lot of tiny plastic pieces that are now unidentifiable. There is a little green on some of the broken pieces.

Upon further investigation, I discover the vehicle was traveling north, then about 10 feet before my driveway the vehicle slipped into the ditch, hit my culvert and trash can, (which was empty) went across my driveway and back into the ditch, traveling about 25 more feet and getting back on the road. I did not see any signs of coolant or oil coming from the vehicle and I did not see any cars on the side of the road. I live about 1.3 miles up the road from old Rt 66 and no side roads, so I guess after running off the road they kept going and hopefully made it to where they were going.

Now I will be looking for a possible green car missing a lot of the grill and bumper that is missing a right headlight and turn signal...

    edit: More to the mystery...

When my wife got home, I asked her if she saw the mess. She asked what mess.??

I told her about the mess at the driveway where a car ran off into the ditch. She said there is nothing there. So we went out for a look, and sure enough someone had cleaned up the mess. There were only one set of foot prints in the mud so not sure if the driver came back or if someone was just being nice and cleaned it up.

It's worthy of two threads, actually. The second thread will be about the experience. The first thread will be a deceptive GoFundMe link with lots of pictures of starving kittens and car accidents involving ambulances, all of which were taking underprivileged youth to their lifesaving treatments.
