A quick train trip down the coast turned into a long haul for more than 80 Amtrak passengers when their train from Los Angeles to San Diego ran out of fuel Sunday night.

Guess fuel management issues aren't limited to GA.

As many delays as Amtrak has, they probably could have just said it was track repairs, or traffic delays and nobody would have ever suspected a thing. The freight railroads HATE Amtrak. They are a scheduling nightmare. The freight system does not run on any timetable at all any more. they send 'em out as soon after the train is built as is possible. It's almost impossible to try to fit in a scheduled train and make it work. They only let them run because they are forced to by the guvmint.

True, but when they do crash it's often on a larger scale.
