I love looking at your work.

Tom, please ... Where TCM is concerned, "new standards" doesn't say much. I'm sure your work is light-years better than that.
New standards , service limits , and a couple other terms refer to the measurements in the engine.

When the clearance in a rod bearing is said to be .001" to .003" I set them at .002"

These are ECI cylinders, with the rotators on the exhaust valve, as you can see in the picture of the rocker shaves. The timing can now be advanced to .28 Degrees.
The deck hight has been set to the highest compression the blue print allows.

I'm waiting for the plating to come back from the platers, and the new starter to get here.

This is the little engine I inherited and started in the middle of the process.

Tom,

Regarding:

Given the new design Continential cylinders, ECI and the Superior's, is your go to choice the ECI's? Pros/Cons of the other new cylinders?

Thanks.

Leo

I've had no problems with any of the cylinder brands. that said I haven't used any new Continental cylinders and haven't used any Superiors in a long time.

The ECI with the exhaust valve rotators work well, and their bore finish breaks in almost immediately, because there is no cross hatching scratches to polish off.

Quick question. O-235.. The tab for safety wiring the oil filter is broken off. Any suggestion of where else to wire the filter?

The tab is on the filter or the Engine?

I thought the engine had a hole in the oil pump housing, which gets pulled out. and then folks use the temp probe for the anchor end of the safety wire.

if the oil filter tab is pulled out, get a new filter.

Thanks for the reply Tom.

The tab on the engine has been pulled out... The old filter was not wired to anything. I changed the oil, installed a new filter and need to find something to wire it to. I'll look to the temp probe

All Dressed and ready to deliver, but the aircraft isn;t ready for it.
