You've probably never heard of him, but after 36 years of coaching NCAA Division I track and field, John McDonnell is retiring.

42 NCAA National Championships (that's right - 42)
5 NCAA Triple Crowns (Indoor, Outdoor, Cross Country)
20 Conference Triple Crowns
83 Conference Championships

That's a hell of a record.

Is he at the University of Arkansas? The son of some friends, a very talented long distance runner, left the University of Colorado to go to Arkansas to run cross country. If that is him, I can certainly understand why.

And, Ken, if he could grease the x-winds in addition to all of his other accomplishments...well, that would make him quite exceptional indeed!

A very exceptional record.

PS. To grease a cross wind landing, do you crab or slip? :dunno: Bob
