And same is true for the opposite. This is just yawn worthy to get disgruntled about. There’s just no there there to be bothered by, it’s just upset ness for upsetness sake. My personal masculinity is not eroded nor offended by notams referring to air mission than airmen. There’s real problems to worry about before I become worm food and this one falls somewhere below how often I should change my aileron fluid and worrying about my flux capacitor may need replacement at the next annual.
No, but it's waste of resources that could be spent elsewhere because 12 people are offended by the word man/men and think the Moon landing should be redone using an all female crew and July 20th 1969 should be eradicated from the history books because a dude said the word "man" when addressing the country. How. Dare. He.
Right now you might not think it’s a problem, but where does it end. My thinking is that it’s going in the direction that will end very badly. There’s obviously a motivation and an agenda behind it or else why would they be doing it?
I’d also note I believe both “sides” of such an issue wouldnt appreciate my opinion on such items, but that many folks find themselves in a similar spot as myself and just don’t say anything to avoid ire from either “side”. I would say the same thing as I did above about this issue had someone got bent about a notam referencing airmen. I find no reason for outrage at the use of airman/airmen. I find no outrage in it being changed to air mission. My guess is there are many who fall into the middle on such a foolish debate.
it will never end… it won’t…. Change and evolution just doesn’t ever stop. It never has and likely won’t until the big lightbulb in the center of the solar system does…
Nope. Ray is a man's name. Can't have that in the color. Need to come up with a new name or spelling for the word gray.
The more time the FAA spends on this stuff, the less time they have for thinking up ways to really **** thing up. Just like it's a good thing when a president plays golf 5 days a week.
All the girls named Amanda, Samantha, etc. are just going to have to change their names and be mad at their parents for ever doing such a thing.
This is, without a doubt, the biggest scandal to ever hit the U.S. Government. A scandal like no other. Bigger than the tan suit. Bigger than "no flag pin". Bigger than no tie in the oval office. Even bigger than date night. Time for torches and pitchforks.
"First they came for the NOTAMS..." I'm shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you. Nauga, and the matter of whose trigger is pulled
I have noticed that I am seeing the word "fishers" more when talking about people who fish. I was going to say that I got out of aviation and into sailing at the right time, but one organization I volunteer with has started calling "man overboard" drills "crew overboard" drills. That isn't even technically correct. Does this mean that we don't care about passengers (as opposed to crew) who go overboard? But then I live in the land where people put their pronouns in their email signature, among other places.
My pronoun is salty. If pronouns are so offensive to you, then don’t use them at all, if you find pronouns offensive and continue to use them then you are being offensive. Having specific pronouns is lunacy. It violates the entire point of a pronoun.
Is your verb "yells at clouds"? Because that's one heck of a non-sequitur sermon directed at the messenger who was making an amusing point, not engendering (cough, heh) the behavior you're railing against.
Hi, Well... that startet when the cleaning crew got the title "facility manager" some 20 years ago... Stupid, but it's what it is. Instead of verbally uplifting everyone... what about equal pay for equal work? Changing acronyms is easier... Tobias
Serious question: can you describe how it ends “very badly” and for whom? I’m seriously not seeing it.
There are many Richards in this country who prefer to be called Dick. We need to stop this madness right now, to protect the Dicks in our great country.
It doesn't take much of a leap to see Russia, China, North Korea etc. enjoying fanning these flames, on both sides. Let's get everyone in the US ****ed at everyone else over small things that have a kernel of truth to them. Gullible folks on both sides then take up the cause and then we need articles about how to talk to each other at Thanksgiving. Could aviation be more inclusive?, sure. Is changing the name of thing that everyone just calls a NOTAM going to change that in a meaningful way?, not likely. In the short term is it going to **** of those that think that it's an outrage - yep, as evidenced by this thread. Meanwhile Putin, Xi and Kim are laughing at how easy it is to mess with us. I'm really not a conspiracy theorist BTW, but this just seems so plausible.
They would like US politics to continue on its current trajectory for sure. And are likely celebrating the insane Alberta “screwventy” act that the mirror right wing wokes has tabled yesterday in Canada. FYI: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calg...ta-sovereignty-cabinet-rewrite-laws-1.6668807
Alberta should be the 51st state anyway. Maybe we could cut New Jersey loose so we can keep the flag the same.
