There used to be places to take practice written tests. Anyone still have them? I would like to practice for the ATP test. Using the book is not as random.
One of the best suggestions I received from an instructor was do ten questions every day. I've been doing it for years now, ten questions.
Even when you don't have the time to do the ten properly, just going through them and make your best guess at least exposes you to the questions, and it only takes a few minutes.
Ten a day, every day. No matter how much you think you know, you don't know the answer to every question on that site. Getting in the ten a day habit will get you a heck of a lot closer.
Their website is ugly. Their software is ugly. Their question database is the best there is. You can call them 24x7x365 and an American answers that knows the software and the material. The database is constantly being updated. Their question pool is the smallest around.
Daughtless's question pool for the CFII written was 900 some questions. Shepard Air had it down to 200 something questions. I didn't get a question that was a surprise.
