Tangri-La, Utah (UT68)

Diane,

That sounds like a neat place to check out. I haven't been there but there is a write-up in the Fly Utah! book by Galen Hanselman. That part of Utah is really pretty to fly over, and the picture in the book is breath taking. The runway is right on the edge of the river, and it says there is a berm at both ends that is 6-10 ft high with 10 ft bushes on top, so don't land short. Also, the book lists the runway lenght at 2690 ft instead of the 3000 ft on Air Nav. The runway surface is listed as "excellent packed dirt".

Hope you can go there. I'll be waiting for your evaluation.

I have never landed at that airport, but I have flown around in that area, and it's one of the most amazing places to fly around that I've ever seen.
If you go about 10 or so miles due south, there is a place called Needles Outpost that is also very cool, and they have camping right at the airport. It's right on the edge of Canyonlands Nat'l park.

Needles Outpost is (hopefully) temporarily closed for repairs of some weather damage. I just heard a couple of days ago.
