Henning is right on this one I believe.
I don't have a T/W, high performance or complex endorsements. I do have over 2000hrs T/W and a lot of that in high performance complex T/W airplanes. Don
I'd say that if you haven't been able to express your feelings to a point that you feel satisfied with on this subject by now you're not ever gonna.
Yeah, but .................
Do a lot of float flying?
He has a very valid point, but when you take anything to extreme absolutes, I would hardly call that 'right'.
No, I did all that stuff before the FAA required endorsements so was grandfathered in. Don
Being able to land a tail wheel or on water makes one a 'a more versatile pilot'?
Yes, that's accurate.
Pssshhh.... everyone knows the only way to become a better pilot is to get certificated in Rotorcraft - Helicopter :wink2:
Just ask, and I'll tell ya how much better a pilot I am
Almost, helicopter and glider, that is the only way to be a good airplane pilot. Sheesh people talking about little things, where the third wheel is, pffft, true pilot mastery and awesomeness comes from mastering several categories.
If helos are so great, why aren't there more vintage helicopter fly-ins?
But...Have you flown a taildragger helicopter?
where is the bow down smiley ?
touche good sir touche !
(actually I was invited to fly the S-55 and S-58 this summer doing cherry drying but it just doesn't pay enough...)
Cause they are still out there making money instead
For the same reason there are a lot more hot dog carts than steak houses.
If you autorotate into the orchard, is that a pit stop?
I am going after my rotor craft endorsement....
Somebody please shoot this thread and kill it....
Well, hopefully it makes them better tailwheel pilots at least.
And You called me a geeser ?
I wouldn't call you that but not only am I a geezer most of the airplanes I fly are older than me. Don
Why is it so important to kill the thread. If the thread irritates anyone, I would suggest that they simply no longer open it.
It's only annoying in the sense that the argument keeps going around and around in circles. I think we are due for a revisit of the discussion about car engines.
Welll.... dddduuuuuhhhh flying an airplane with a car engine definitely makes you a better pilot !
better glider pilot
A lot of us would be better pilots if we just sat through another round of commercial or private (as applicable) pilot groundschool.
Then we could hang the diploma on the wall to annoy non-refreshed pilots. And start a thread about it.
Only if it's one that requires in flight valve lash adjustment.
It's a joke Doc
Ask and you shall recieve
But it's like a nasty, disgusting, vomit-inducing accident,..and yet..I can't look away.
You must have been one of the small number who watched the State of the Union address, too.
All right I'll club this walrus of a thread. If Obama was a pilot would he fly a tailwheel airplane?
No, TW planes are mostly for people with limited flying budgets like myself.
Yes I did, but I enjoy watching a circus of clowns (both sides),
but I never bring politics into the arena of flying and will drop it like a hot potatoes when someone does.
