Ig'nant question: Do my position lights have to be on to turn on the ADS-b portion of the uAvionix tail beacon? Master switch on, nothing. Turn on position lights, voila. Or, is the ADSB out turned on by my transponder?

Yes. And the switch was supposed to be placarded to remain on.
