It's totally burned. From the TV picture I can't even tell what part of the plane I'm seeing.

It's a CNN Pipeline video. You could try KABC

The plane is just beyond the departure end of 34L, a little left of the centerline. 34L is active at the moment (they showed another plane departing).

Based on size it's either a 2- or 4-seater, but I can't even tell high or low wing.

Hmm.... The thing I thought was the plane was apparently the ENGINE. It's supposedly a CJ1.

A pilot witness reports that the luggage door was open.

FAA official says they were trying to return to airport after takeoff and radioed the tower with an emergency.

"The nose baggage door was open."

That makes it unflyable? :dunno:

The report I heard said the concern was something popping out and getting ingested by a turbine. The NTSB report ought to be interesting...

The question is, of course, did they quit flying the airplane or did something make it unairworthy? :dunno: (either!)

I had a baggage door open in a Cherokee once. It gets aweful noisy inside the airplane.
