I am selling a new Sky-Tec 149-NL starter that came with my newly overhauled engine. I decided to use the starter from my old engine which was just installed about 150 hours ago and is a Sky-Tec as well. They are great starters at a fraction of the weight! You can buy from Aircraft Spruce for $431 but I'll sell for $400 and include shipping.

Here are some links to where you can buy them.

Not commenting on the value for the price, but FWIW, we ran these on the Chieftain I flew for 135 and loved them. The NL starters have a lot of benefits. Very fast cranking, which leads to very easy starting. This especially helped in the winter, where you typically end up with slow cranking, making starting even harder than it has to be. I've had far more problems with the Prestolite Lycoming starters, as well. We managed to get the Navajo started when it was cold soaked in 10F blowing snow pretty easily with these. Anyone who's tried to start a Navajo in such conditions knows it's not always easy, even when you know what you're an engine guy...

Disclaimer: Yes, SkyTec did donate two starters to Cloud Nine for the 310. But, we went to them first with the request because we specifically wanted their starters on the 310 based on Laurie's and my positive experience with them. So, my endorsement is based on personal experience.

I too can endorse this starter. I put one on a few years ago for my O320-D3G and love it. It is less weight by a 1lb or two and the high output makes for an easier start. Very reliable and not a lick of trouble.
