I was reading up on the crash that occurred on September 11, 1974 in Charlotte, NC, and was wondering if anyone who recalls information about the incident can share what they know or remember. From what Wikipedia says, this was the flight that triggered the FAA's Sterile Cockpit Rule in 1981. This was also the flight that took the lives of comedian Stephen Colbert's father and two brothers.

Does anyone remember this?

I was ten years old then. I remember a lot of airline crashes in the news, but not that one. It took the government 7 years to figure out the sterile cockpit rule?
