The 1980 Beechcraft A36 Bonanza plane was approaching Pontiac Municipal Airport for refueling when it began having problems, state police said. The flight took off from Detroit and was destined for Moline.

Problems like "no fuel?"

The semi drivers were alerted to the emergency and blocked I-55 traffic as the plane landed. The plane sustained minor wing damage when it hit a post along the highway and was towed to the Pontiac airport.

:hairraise:

Alerted HOW? Over CB radio? By the state cops? How did they know?

Anyway, Bravo Zulu for a landing you can walk away from.

Alerted HOW?

The article said "as it was landing" they were alerted and blocked the road, so my guess is they saw it go over the top of them ("BREAKER BREAKER, HOLY $***, DID YOU SEE THAT?!"), and blocked further traffic with their trucks.

B-36!!!! I had something completely different in my head when I saw that in the title thread!!!

It would be cool to see a real Convair B-36 fly let alone land on I55!!!!
