Save Cable Airport! (Monday Aug 7)

Man, I know Cable. I used to borrow a bike and ride down there when we laid over at Ontario. There was a Fairchild 24 there rotting into the ramp. I hope the airport survives.

Well, the TWO BUSLOADS of pilots went to City Hall after gathering at the FBO, and then the developer pulled a stall tactic to get the meeting cancelled postponed. Here's two reports of what occurred:

Hey gang,

That meeting of the Airport Advisory committee (the City Council,
sitting with 'different hats' on)... did NOT occur.

Yes, there were... maybe 125 persons there... Mike Stewart of the cafe
signed up many of us, indicating that we HAD come to listen to the
deliberations... yet, when the clerk of the city came in and announced that the AAC would NOT be meeting, and this meeting was postponed until NEXT Monday evening... with NO explanation, and NO City Council persons present to explain their absence... "Is this any way to run a railroad?"... is an old question we used to ask.

NOT the way of respectfully dealing with the public.

Hope to see you next week... same time, same City Hall...

Two bus loads of people from the airport showed up. The developer
(Lewis) is using a delaying tactic and the City Clerk rescheduled the
meeting til the 14th. As I understand it, the City has 45 days to
respond to the Appeal and the 45 days are up on 28th. We may need to
go back to City Hall two (2) more times. The builder is good at
getting what they want.

Need to show up again at 5:30 on the 14th. May need to do it again on
the 21st and the 28th but will not know till after we show up. As I
said, the Developer (Lewis Homes) has played this game before and WON.
We need to make sure that they do not WEAR US down.

Sounds like it's time for them to start a blog, raise public awareness, get a sympathetic cub reporter to start writing some stories, grassroot effort here.

It wouldn't hurt if we all sent a letter to the City Hall care of the Airport Advisory Committee, either:
