Safest route from Sacto (KSMF), Ca to Minden-Tahoe (MEV), NV

Men and Gentle Lady Pilots,

I'd appreciate a recommended SAFEST route from the aforementioned two points. My current flight planning has me going over Truckee and making a right, 90 degree turn over ???? and then a decent into the Carson Valley into MEV's RWY 34. If anyone flies this route regularly your feedback would be most appreciated.

Also, any hazard posed by sail planes?

I "drive" a Mooney 20C.

Careful with the lee side of the hills, you're in a money so you should be able to get to a good altitude for the lake.
