:) For all of those of you out there who are like me...got your certificate young then took a long break...here's a webcast / blog interview with a discussion between me and Dave Goodwin, webmaster / blogger from www.planeviz.com. We discuss what it's like, how fast the skills come back, and what has changed and what hasn't over the years.

Enjoy and let's all support Dave in his new on-line venture!

Good idea for a podcast topic.

Really enjoyed listening to it. I had a very similar experience right after I got my certificate in '99. A ten year hiatus between late 2000 and 2010 for the same reasons, money, family, kids. Like you, flight simulator/Vatsim and airshows filled the gap.

40 years! and I though my ten years was a long time:lol:.

Yep...40 years...last entry was 1973. You should have seen the look on my new instructor's face when he did his 2013 entry!

That's funny.

Speaking of log books, mine had a little water damage/faded entries and wrinkled pages, due to a flood in the basement of my old house.
When I started flying again, the CFI started making an entry and said "dude you need a new log book".

I hadn't even used half the book!

My 40 year old logbook has an orange stain / rip...caused by a melted gumdrop fusing my old Student Pilot's Flight Manual (which I also still have) to the log book. Priceless.

1970 (first solo)-2003 (second solo)

Hey! You don't have a tail wheel endorsement in your logbook.

In 1970 one was not needed.
