Planning a day trip with the wife and another couple in late October form GRR....any comments? Is it worth it, or is this place just an overrated tourist trap?

It's fun. I've been there a few times. I spent a night one weekend.

Downtown is sorta like a college town; lotsa bars. If you aren't drinking... It's set up for boaters who don't seem to have the 8 hours rule.

There are enough nice shops, restaurants and such to make it fun and the scenery is great. There's a winery and the Admiral Peary monument.

You'll need to rent a golf cart at the airport for $2n bux. It's a few miles from the airport to downtown.

Most places are closed by late October. The summer months and early fall would be a better time to go.
