I've been toying the idea of getting a 406 mhz personal locator with GPS to carry while flying (the R22 does not have an ELT, nor will the Raven II). Does anyone have a recommendation about which unit to select?
We chose the ACR Terrafix at work for both our survival vests and our backcountry rangers. We researched a few and these came out on top.RotaryWingBob said:I've been toying the idea of getting a 406 mhz personal locator with GPS to carry while flying (the R22 does not have an ELT, nor will the Raven II). Thanks. That's an informative review.Armageddon Aviator said:You can read a very comprehensive review of all 406Mhz PLB's at "Equipped to Survive" (www.equipped.com).
The McMurdo PLB's failed the tests miserably - only ACR products passed.
What he said...we basically read a lot of internet reviews.RotaryWingBob said:Thanks Richard. Do you happen to know the reason that ACR came out on top?
