They go through engines remarkably quickly from what Ive heard. One ended up on the ramp of Destin and sat for a day and then the next day a dozen mechanics and two semi trucks came. Popped in a new engine in less than 6 hours and then a crew flew it the 10 minutes back to Hurlburt.
But two 39 foot props producing a climb rate of 9000 feet per minute sure is impressive
The last two times El Presidente has come into LAX we've had the Ospreys, as they're transitioning from the CH-46 for the support birds. My office is basically the NW corner of the airport - they're a LOT louder going overhead for sure.
