There's a Citabria available at FTG so I thought maybe it's time to check the spin training off the list. Spent 1.1 doing deep stalls and spins to left and right. Oh, also did the recoveries. Noting the recoveries seems to be an important point with the lawyers. So much for documenting the death of common sense.

I guess that now I know what many others have already learned, namely that spins {and recoveries} are no big deal in an aircraft that is certified for them and within weight and balance specs. Just don't do it close to the ground.

I've heard stories of instructors afraid of a spin. All I can say they musta gotten some poor training.

For me, the deep stalls were more challenging in the Citabria than a Skyhawk. I seemed to always be chasing wings level but never had much of a problem in the 'hawk.

Oh, final note: doing the spin is ok but riding through the spin isn't so fun. The instructor was game but it was making him sick when I was spinning.
