Oakland not allowed to monitor Guard?

Well, I wonder how much of this is new, and how much we just didn't know before.

Seems nuts to me. Maybe there's more to the story.

These guys are there for the safe coordinated use of airspace. It seems to me they were attempting to do their job whether the aircraft was under their direct control or not.

I'd say this supervisor needs to be asked some questions; probably much more.
 
I believe the FAA side of the story was that this occurred after it was clear that another facility was handling it, and that the volume was returned back to its normal level.

Not saying which is right other than the hyperbole that emanates from both sides is a little tiring.
 
If in doubt, don't trust the FAA. I have to go with the controllers on this one. Supervisors do unsafe things day in and day out which compromise safety. Unfortunately the only way these become clearly visible is through fatal accidents.
