Anyone know of any structural & gross weight differences between the 0-0-2s and any of the 337 models? Other thing is is there an STC for hanging 550s on either airframe. I know there's a website that gives all the STC info, but I lost my bookmarks with the last HD failure. Seems that the 337 is the prefered airframe for fire spotting and FAC contracts here in Aus, and I'm thinking to add a 250-300 gallon hopper for retardant or fit a spreader underneath it for top dressing pastures. If that part doesn't play out, I'd prefer a set of IO-470s for the FAC/Spotting work.

The current issue of Aviation Consumer has an article on the Mixmasters (including the O-2). Might check with them, as well.

You could check www.337skymaster.org or www.skymaster.org.uk for information.

There are a couple of STCs to hang 550s on the 337. There's the Reilly Super Skymaster conversion which really perks up the P-337 with a TSIO550 (see superskyrocket.com), and I believe Owen Bell [FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica](Aviation Enterprises -- 615-865-1802 owen.bell@juno.com) also has a IO-550 for the non-pressurized models.

O-2s are 337B's in fatigues, so will have similar performance characteristics.
Book values for the 337 line are:

Model Gross Empty
336

Henning -- What we need to do is put together an STC for swapping the rear engine for a turbine with a pusher prop and eliminating the front engine. The front engine would be replaced with an aerodynamic nose that would also be the cargo hold that extends out far enough to make the weight & balance work. This configuration should carry a fair amount of fire retardant (not necessarily in the nose). Oh, yes, we need to find a third partner that will put up the cash. <g> -- Mike

It would look like this:

Some of the links are broken on that site.

Problem is they want a multi for the mission. I have access to a Allison 250 powered Bird Dog, but they don't want it.:dunno:
