Why do they think no engine running = unconditional crash?

Gliders land all the time without an engine. Even the space shuttle lands without the engines running. Heck, even I've crashed a few times however I guess I was apparently too stupid to do the crash part of the crash.

You only crash if it's a crash, otherwise it's a landing. Sheesh.
 
judging the condition of the aircraft in the picture, i'd say that was a crash!
 
What kind of plane is that. Was it built by Mattel?

I know - why would they write that? Just for drama - I guess? Notice they don't say what kind of snake. Probably not the harmful kind.

(Though we do get rattlesnakes here)
 
Haha I was just in that area about a month ago. The first thing that came to mind when I saw that rough field was "this would be a sucky place to have an emergency landing!"

So it's an unconditional fact that 100% of all engine outs result in a ball-up crash even before the plane starts to descend?
