News: Record setting Orbital Skydive

Umm, an orbital jump is not likely to be successful. Microgravity and all that.

Altitude != orbit.

It's actually been studied as an option to get astronauts down from orbit. It's possible if you don't have enough forward momentum in orbit to sustain your altitude. Not even the ISS stays in orbit unassisted, they periodically have to fire thrusters to keep it at the appropriate altitude.

The heat would definitely be a problem, but that's why you have scientists and materials engineers to figure out how to address it, if it's possible.

Obviously we figure it out, we all saw Star Trek (2009) right?

Me too.... I suddenly was craving a hot dog....
