New TAF Format

It's not really any more complicated; that is if the current version is. All it does is make a slight change in the valid time period.

http://www.weather.gov/os/aviation/pdfs/30-hr_taf-examples.pdf

And the reason: the TAFs now cover a 30-hour period (instead of 24 hours) at some of our major airports, so you need a way to know starting and ending date.

EDIT: I said 36 hours previously; I remembered it wrong from the article I read. Thanks to the individual who privately pointed out my error!! ;-) (you know who you are!)

I access the ADDS page every day or so to read "the news" as it relates to weather reports and forecasts. This change has been listed for months.

He didn't say it was news, only that it was "Fresh from the EAA email..." :)

The EAA has been slow to announce a lot of things, lately.

Anyone else a NAFI member?

I'm both a NAFI and EAA member, and I still look to the NWS page, not organizational pages, for news about weather reporting. It's called getting it from the horse's mouth.
