Something I thought I noticed a few times, but thought "Nah, can't be" but this morning I paid attention when I logged in. On the main page, left side, User CP section, under my avatar is "New Posts: XX" . This morning it said 72. I then clicked on New Posts in the top menu bar as I usually do, and the new posts page displayed Posts 1-18 of 18. The last few days I've read thru the new posts and wondered "huh? Is that all there is? I thought I saw a bigger number than that?"

So, anyone else notice this?

I've noticed it lately, too. I assume the total count includes:
a) posts to forums I have excluded
b) multiple posts to the same thread

But, it could be a mistake.

I had to logout and log back in to get the count to reset to zero.

Mark all forums read should reset the post counts for you.

The count you see on the home page is of actual posts - that is a single reply to a thread. 5 replies to 1 thread since you last marked them read is 5 posts.

The "posts" you see on "new posts" is actually the count of threads with new replies.

Thanks for the clarification between post count and thread count - geez, that sounds like my shopping trip with my wife last night

"We can't buy those sheets - look at the thread count!"

vs

"Wadda ya mean that new shotgun costs $1600? Are you insane?"
