Got this today...
Notice Number: NOTC1137
The National Aeronautical Charting Office has published the 8th Edition of the Aeronautical Chart User's Guide. This publication contains a wealth of knowledge about chart symbology on both IFR and VFR charting products. This is an excellent reference from ground school students up through and including ATPs. Order yours today from any authorized chart agent or directly from the FAA at: http://naco.faa.gov .
This is something that every student and instructor should have. It ain't bad for certificated pilots, either! They actually sell it at a loss to try to get it out there. Since it has a lot of color and graphics, it actually makes sense to purchase a copy rather than printing it out, though I suppose you could always just look at it online at http://naco.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=naco/online/aero_guide.
