Another good site to see where NWS is going is http://weather.aero
It's the "Experimental" site they use to test stuff.

Interesting reorganization
The first thing I want to see are the prog charts, and they are now harder to get to. With the old site you could get to a five-panel view of the prog charts with just one mouse click. A single click of the new one seems shows you only the first panel, so that repeated clicks are required to view the ones that follow.
The second thing I want to see is the metars, and this looks like an improvement because there's a map to look at, and they didn't mess up the navigation -- still just one mouse click before you can type the airport where you want the metar.
The third thing I want to see is the site radar where I am, and this is now harder to get to, requiring two instead of one mouse clicks.
So overall, it appears to me to show some promise but only if they can streamline the navigation so that it's no worse than the current site.
