Presario 2100.
Buying a USB device (wireless network card) and it says 2.0 required.
Does the laptop have the spec required?

When I click on Device Mgr>USB Controllers it says
1. ALi PCI to USB Open Host Controller
2. USB Root Hub
Clicking on each of these does not reveal "USB 1.1" or "USB 2.0" but, if it helps, I can screenshot the details.

My research suggests the Presario 2100 has only USB 1.1 chipset.

Have you considered anchor duty for the laptop?

There you are. When you come over, I will let you verify all this but I believe you have nailed its future as a gravity-harnessing device.

USB 1.1 and 2.0 should be forward and backwards compatible. Mixing just means you're limited to the slower of the two although there could be problems if you try to use a high power 2.0 device on 1.1 (not likely the case for the units you're looking at).
