Nebraska isn't all corn and soybeans anymore...It's becoming a tropical paradise based on what I see growing around here...all of these pictures were taken today in Lincoln, NE...

The picture on the left is a lilac flowering way out of season- like 4 to 5 months out of season.

Picture 2 is a Plumeria or frangipani- native to Mexico and Central America

Image 3 is a young plant I've seen in India- they call it Gulmohar it makes red flowers and a seed pod that looks like something between an tamarind and a mimosa pod. On Hawaii, it was crossed with a similar plant that makes white flowers to get a plant with pink flowers.

Image 4 is a banana plant growing in someone's front yard.

The last photograph is lantana- native to tropical america. In India, some people think of it the same way some people think of kudzu

My flower bed turned into an unintentional prairie wildflower preserve. I have all kinds of color.

I spotted a peregrine falcon perched high on a tree by the airport road. So much for my phony owls to scare away the birds.

A few days ago I watched a huge crane take flight over the road.

And we have majestic hawks showing us how it's done.

Country living is cool.
