Can I live without this program?
I was trying to uninstall it as it was causing irritation but could not. (it won't let you uninstall it when it is running.....but there is no obvious way to turn it off!)

I have never heard of the program so I can't help you there, but have you tried booting into safe mode and uninstalling the program that way? It might uninstall there.

David

I got it, thanks.
Actually cleaned out a dozen unrequested programs and such, the computer is 2 lbs lighter and much happier now!

I've started using REVO Uninstaller (http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html) to get rid of old programs. I mean REALLY get rid of them. It's free, and I have not been unhappy in the least.
Using the advanced uninstall, it will go find all the old registry entries and folders and give you the opportunity to delete them all. I first used it to get rid of McAfee (GRRRR).
After that I use Advanced System Care (http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-SystemCare-Free/3000-2086_4-10407614.html?tag=mncol;1) to scan and maintain XP. Another good program, IMHO.

hmm does it help you make decision on what is safe to delete?
That is the big stumbling block, I find myself crossing my fingers when uninstalling. Googling titles and filtering the info to decide what can go.
I note the add/rem programs list with its 'rarely used' 'occ used' is inaccurate.

Nother topic:
if you have for eg, SP3 - can you safely delete SP2??
Or , other upgrades that are sequential....in general can the older version be tossed safely?

If you're referring to the installation programs for the service packs/upgrades then you will not affect the actual operating system/program by deleting them.
