I have an oo text document (not a spreadsheet) with a long column of 150 9-figure alphanumeric sequences. eg: 74ABC1234

I am looking for dupes in the last 4 figures. 74ABC1234

I don't want to remove them, I need to see them.

Any ideas other than using mysterious macro-like codes?
Thanks

Depending on how it's formatted, you might be able to copy / paste it into Calc and sort it...

In regular Office I could help you.

I'd make an adjacent column, and put the formula =RIGHT(A1; 4) -- where A1 is the adjacent column, then fill that calc all the way down your column.

Then you can sort on the 4-character column and whack the dupes. There's probably a way to do the whacking automatically with script, but I don't know it. You can do this bit with filters too.

yup, copy and paste into calc then truncate to the right four characters and sort - easy peasy

He'll have to do that in Calc. As far as I know, you can't do it in Writer.
