NA -Cdn expats; you can't go home...

This is one of the most inane rules to come out of Canada lately.
For decades, Cdn's with foreign citizenship could return on their new country's passport...but not after Sept 30th. (This applies to air travel only for some reason; you can still crash the border by land or sea!)

Ironically, if you need to get a new passport, you will likely be having 'References' from your foreign country sign you off, so that you may return to your original country!

But what if you don't care about being subject to "immigration screening", for example if you are only going for a short visit.

A valid Canadian passport is the only reliable and universally accepted travel document that provides proof that you are a citizen and have the right to enter Canada without being subjected to immigration screening.

I know we fly one dual citizen who has insisted that we list his Canadian passport when entering Canada and his US passport when entering the US. This causes a bit of a paperwork headache. He is the only dual citizen who has insisted on this. Now it looks like there might be more...
